The Most Dangerous Game

Rainstorm without knowing who General Carrot really is, he is like a mouse caught in a trap. To Rainstorm, Carrot is a life saver, seeing as Carrot as a warm hearted man welcoming him, “come ..

.. This is the most restful spot”, when in reality is the most alarming space he can ever go. At first, a person may seem friendly or harmless, but the next second you know, they are stabbing you in the back. Sometimes words can come across slicing and breaking people’s heart into pieces.

In this case, Carrot literally wants to shoot Rainstorm to death which alarms the reader the human nature, deceitfulness.

Carrot deceived his prey, the human, to come Into his readily trap; at the same time, coax Itself Into a “self-deceiving” game. Another example that deepens our Insight Into human nature and life Is the Island, Is the setting In which the murders take place. General Carrot speaks of murder with no dread but as an exciting event to participate. “Ship Trap Island” is a world with no restrictions which foreshadows what our modern world will become if people began to ignore laws, rules and their own conscience only to gain our freedom’, resulting in plunging our world into a disaster.

For Carrot his freedom’ was to kill “animals that can reason”; to him that was his interest, his entertainment, and his paradise.

Rainstorm had replaced Carrot position; thus, he becomes the hunter, and the general is being hunted. This provides insights into our imperfect human nature because it explains how a man, Like Rainstorm, clearly knows the deference between hunter and murderer. Nonetheless, Rainstorm still killed Carrot and started the whistle to his murder game. From fearing of losing Its life Rainstorm discarded civilization and turned Into a savage.

On the other side, we could also say Rainstorm Is a hero cause he came back to kill Carrot which others who are a Iso trapped on the island could survive. He rather delays his escape from the island to rescue the innocent life that may be harmed from the General.

From Rainstorm example we know that, in reality, sometimes people could be brutal and cruel because of their background or what they have gone through. In the first case we can interpret Rainstorm transforming into a ruthless and wrathful representation of mankind.

As the story tells us “he has never slept in a better bed”, so we know he isn’t at all bothered by his omniscience after his murder. Instead, he feels secure.

Even if he killed the General because his life was at risk, normally people would still feel guilty of doing so. Nowadays, as humans, we always have feeling towards our loved ones and yet that feeling or that security line could be broken. This story reminds me that people’s love Is starting to cool down, as the news only gets worst one by one and unconsciously most people seems to get used to hearing the crimes.

Similarly, under the condition towards the General which caused him to paralyze his conscience and in the end ecocide to kill Carrot. Because of the desire to freedom many individual often didn’t notice the limit of freedom.

By putting on an appropriate limitation to your freedom could protect you and others from unnecessary problems. Carrot created a “murder free” world for himself. It was an isolated island which no one was in help to people who were being murdered. This could bring our attention to serious questions: What do we want our world to look like?

What does our world look like? Because we do want world peace, we want security, and yet in most places of the world this is not yet achieved. Vancouver has been given the pleasure to be ranked in the first place, most livable environment for human, and yet still we see teenager suicide. We see reports about girls who are raped at night walking home.

These are reports and news that have been sent from schools in the past eight years. This illuminates some aspects of human behavior. Rainstorm has also not been able to reject the pressure of death, applied to him, his fear built up.

Eventually, he isn’t like what he used to be anymore. The most dangerous game had started once more when Rainstorm says “get ready, General Carrot.

” Without question, competitions between human have gone on for centuries; whether it is competition between companies, between countries, cities, provinces or men they are non-stop. There are too many fights in human history between predator and prey which serves no one well, and this situation is still continuing. “The weak are the prey of the strong. ” That is also what we see happening to Rainstorm when he is being preyed upon the General.

In the beginning, Rainstorm agreed that hunting is “the best sport in the world”, but Whitney replies hat it’s only “for the hunter.

… Not for the Jaguar” and, yet, Rainstorm is selfish and mindless to think that “they’ve have no understanding”. Today’s world is also “made up of two classes-?the hunters and the hunted”.

Most of the time, whether bad or good, people do things with a purpose. This reveals a lesson; if you don’t prey on others, you will be preyed upon. Humans have a tendency to bully the weak and new the strong. No matter which age group, the scene of people being used and using others are often seen.

Carrot as a great hunter he wasn’t satisfied with his prey, he ants something more exciting to hunt for and that was human.

Similarly, in modern times many people are also unsatisfied of their present situation. For Carrot he had reached a point of craziness, his passion for hunting is no longer normal; Carrot had a twisted mind. Today, when we are going for our “dream”, our desire what is the cost? Whether you are going for materialistic things or spiritual things many does not consider the price to pay but only the short pleasure that might lay ahead of them. General Carrot paid at a great cost, his life.

Without life nothing could be done even if mom may not value life but having to live is more pleasurable then to die.

Based on personal opinion, this is a good story after you get to dig deep into the story, knowing the meaning behind. When the author talks about the hunter and the hunters, it foreshadows that Rainstorm will become the hunted. It is very interesting how after the conversation about if the Jaguar, the story takes on a feeling of being And later on Rainstorm was in the shoes of the Jaguars. I found the story very interesting because of the irony and foreshadow that is put in the story.
