5 self-care products for beautiful skin

A huge part of happiness is making sure you are taking the time for self-care.

And skincare products are a great starting point for any good self-care regimen.

Anyway, I was gifted a few skincare product samples last month.

I’ve been slowly trying each one out, waiting patiently to share my honest opinions with you.

(I didn’t want to jump the gun, and really wanted to test them out to see how much I would like them before recommending them to my community.)

So, here they are!

This hand cream is sent from the gods!

You only need very little for your hands, or you’re going to end up moisturizing your entire forearm and elbow.

But once you get the amount right, it’s luxurious.

If you’re one for pretty scents and such, this hand cream isn’t for you.

If you are into the natural ingredients to nourish your skin, like shea butter, palm oil sourced from Ghana, and coconut oil – this is all you, boo!

“Sustainably sourced and supports the livelihood of rural African women and their communities,” this hypoallergenic cream is one you definitely want to give a try.

As a chick with oily skin, it felt a little counterintuitive to put oil on my face.

But science says that using oil on your face actually helps with minimizing your skin’s natural sebum (oil) production!

Who wulda thunk it, right?

So, when I came across this little baby sampler among my gifted self-care products, I wanted to give it a try.

It only takes about a drop or two to get the job done, so this product will last you an eternity.

But what I do is tke the drops in my palm, then take my middle finger of the other hand and dab the oil into place on my clean skin. Then I kinda just pat it in, and head to sleep!

I would only recommend using facial oil like this at night, especially for my fellow oilies.

Because it is “naturally formulated with organically grown and wildcrafted ingredients,” the scent on this one might take some getting used to.

But I was feeling myself when I woke up the next morning after trying this one for the first time.

THREE: Hello Fab Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask

Yaaaas, jelly!

I love love love a cool jelly on my face, you guys. So, I was quick to get going on this skincare product.

And I wasn’t disappointed.

Mix this powerhouse ingredient with Vitamin C, and yeah, you’re glowing for days.

So, applying this is simple.

After washing your face, you wanna grab some of it and just slather it on.

You wait about 10 minutes, which I probably leave mine on for around 15ish minutes, then rinse or wipe it off with a wet washcloth.

Done! I love the scent, love that it doesn’t have any artificial fragrance, and didn’t break me out.

Why not get all the vitamin C on your face you can, right?

I like serums already, so I was excited to give this one a try.

I love the packaging, loved the feel of the product on my skin and felt like I experienced a little bit of heaven with the scent.

I used a moisturizer afterward and felt very prepared and ready to face my day.

They don’t use any parabens, mineral oil, or synthetic dyes or fragrances. Nice, right?!

This is an all-around good one for me; it’s #2 on the list for a reason.

Y’all might not know this, but I have been searching for a natural deodorant for some time now.

It started out as a curiosity, but now I’m lowkey afraid of the aluminum in the stuff I’ve been using for 20 years now – eek!

I tried Native, and always felt sweaty even though I smelled pretty good. Gave that one up, and went back to the “good ol’” aluminum antiperspirant…

Until Ursa Major saved my life, maybe very literally.

The deodorant I’ve been using every day is their Hoppin’ Fresh scent. It’s got mint and eucalyptus in it, smells amazing, and even gives you a little tingle in your pits.

You do have to let it air dry for a bit, which can be a lot when you are just trying to get out the door. Also, it has a pretty strict 15-20 hour life. That scent is definitely gone when you wake up the next morning.

But I think the small sacrifices are more than worth it, considering what potential harm aluminum can do to our bodies.

Those are my top five skincare brands to add to your self-care products this month!

Always be happy,
