Confidence is the game-changer when it comes to reaching your goals, and to fulfilling your true purpose. It’s the difference between having a dream and making that dream into a reality. Confidence is key to being an effective leader, a better partner, and to being successful overall.
If we let our minds get carried away with all the hype of Valentine’s Day, we can get pretty twisted up. Most couples have some of the biggest arguments on this particular holiday. Why is that? Put simply, it’s expectations. They’ll get you messed up every single time.
So after much advice, and spending time in thoughtful reflection and prayer, I submitted my application. I interviewed the following week, and what a week that was, lemme tell ya!
I served as an Americorps member with City Year Los Angeles at 116th Street Elementary School. I served as a “mid-year”, which means I came into the program at mid-point and served a total of 6 months. It was quite a taxing experience, and yet one I would relive time and time again.
Vision boards are for folks with big goals. It isn’t called a vision board because it helps you play it safe and stay in your comfort zone. Vision boards help to hone in on the bigger picture, the things that drive you to get up out of bed every morning with excitement in your belly. Vision boards are for those with vision, and for those who truly want to see that vision manifest in their lives.
We have a natural response to images, thanks to the occipital lobe in our brains. This region of the brain works with the temporal lobe to assign meaning to visual content. Basically, assigning images to content is one of the most powerful ways to help our goals stick in our mind’s eye, even with all the other images in the world competing for our attention.
Sometimes fear is considered an emotion that needs to be suppressed or overlooked altogether. These are, unfortunately, flawed views of fear that can keep us in a vicious cycle of defeat. It doesn’t have to be that way, though.
Pushing harder and harder without stopping to consider the direction can prove to be quite the opposite of productive. For all I know, I can be pushing myself around in a big circle, ya know? Ain’t nobody got time. That’s just not good for my anxiety!
